Emergency Data Card

In an accident it is almost impossible for a rescuer to identify the blood type of a victim.  In an accident time is extremely crucial.  In order to assist emergency services personnel in identifying the blood type of a victim instantly, K. Bala came up with the idea of an Emergency Data Card (E.D.C.) in which a person fills up his personal particulars such as his name, address, telephone number, blood type, name of next-of-kin and other vital medical information. This card is to be carried at all times so that in an emergency, immediate medical attention can be given.  Also, the next-of-kin can be informed.

This card was first launched in April 2003 by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport, YB Datuk Ir.  Ong Tee Keat and they are distributed free of charge as a service to the community.  So far nearly 100,000 cards have been given out.
