ABOUT TOYM
The Outstanding Young Malaysia (TOYM) Program was
originated from The Outstanding Young Persons of the World Program,
which was developed by Durwood Howes, the President of United States
of Jaycees for year 1930 and 1931. Junior Chamber International
adopted the Program in year 1982.
The TOYM program was launched by Junior Chamber
Malaysia (JCM) in year 1985 to commemorate the International Year of
the Youth. JCM then decided to adopt this program as part of JCM
annual project.
THE OUTSTANDING YOUNG MALAYSIAN AWARDS
The TOYM program of Junior Chamber Malaysia serves
to recognize up to ten individuals between the ages of 18 and 40 who
exemplify the best of the country's young people.
The Outstanding Young Malaysia Awards Ceremony will
highlight each winner's career in narrative form and provide a stage
from which the honourees can challenge and inspire young people from
around the country. For each honoouree, there will be a presentation
profiling his/her accomplishments, followed by the trophy
presentation, and an acceptance speech.
And individual, association or institution can
nominate any number of nominees. Winners will be selected by a group
of distinguished judges. Nominations are received in each of the ten
categories listed below:
Each winner will be selected on the basis of their
achievement or contribution in any one (1) of the following
categories:
- Business, economic and/or entrepreneurial accomplishment
- Political, legal and government affairs
- Academic leadership and accomplishment
- Cultural achievement
- Moral and religious leadership
- Contribution to children, world peace and/or human rights
- Humanitarian and voluntary service
- Scientific development and accomplishment
- Personal Development and accomplishment
- Medical innovation
Also, in determining the recipients of this
recognition, the judges shall give particular consideration to each
Nominee's record of adherence to the principles embodied in the
JAYCEES CREED.
